    Gas Turbine Research with MathWorks

    This seminar has two main objectives. First, it aims to showcase how the collaboration with MathWorks engineers and the use of MathWorks tools has enhanced gas turbine aerothermal research at the Whittle Laboratory, University of Cambridge. Key areas of research to be discussed include: 1. Advanced post-processing of computational fluid dynamics data 2. Development of low-order models to understand and describe complex flow physics 3. Rapid design, manufacture, and experimental testing of aero-engine rig components

    • Aerospace Innovation Seminar ft. Brian Yutko, SM ’11, PhD ’14

    Brian is the Chief Executive Officer of Wisk Aero, a leader in the Advanced Air Mobility market. Wisk is building and certifying the world’s first autonomous, all-electric aircraft for commercial passenger use. Wisk is headquartered in Mountain View, California and regularly flight tests its autonomy systems and full-scale electric aircraft in the region. Wisk is actively building and testing their 6th Generation aircraft, the company’s first certified product for commercial use, and working with the FAA on a type certification program. The company’s goal is to bring safe everyday flight to everyone. Brian brings extensive leadership and engineering expertise from his previous roles at Boeing, where he led sustainability and future mobility initiatives. He also served as Chief Technologist for Boeing NeXt and was on the Board of Directors for Wisk. Prior to Boeing, Brian held senior positions at Aurora Flight Sciences, specializing in aviation autonomy. He holds a Ph.D. and Master of Science in Aeronautics and Astronautics from MIT, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from Pennsylvania State University.

    • Dr.Minduli Wijayatunga Talk

    Minduli Wijayatunga is an adjunct and incoming Assistant Professor at the University of Illinois Urbana–Champaign, and is currently also a Visiting Scientist at MIT. Her research focuses on guidance, navigation, and control for spacecraft proximity operations, with particular emphasis on safety and machine learning, and spans control barrier functions, reinforcement learning, indirect methods, and convex-optimizationbased trajectory design. She is an Amelia Earhart Fellow and a Forbes 30 Under 30 honoree. She received her Ph.D. in Astrodynamics from the University of Auckland, New Zealand, and her B.Sc. and B.Eng. in Aerospace Engineering and Science from the University of Sydney, Australia.
