Mike Cooley, NG Fellow, Northrop Grumman Space Sector joins AeroAstro for a special seminar.

Speaker Bio: Mike Cooley, NG Fellow, Northrop Grumman Space Sector

Mike is an NG Fellow within the Payload and Ground System (PGS) Division of the Northrop Grumman (NG) Space Sector and is based in Baltimore, MD. He provides technical leadership for R&D, emerging programs and a Common Product Architecture (CPA) initiative. He focuses on the development of RF sensors (radar, communications, etc.) with primary emphasis on space-based payloads. His major areas of technical emphasis include RF sensor architectures, phased arrays, array-fed reflectors, RF tiles, T/R modules, reflectarrays, and deployable antennas.

Mike worked for NG Mission Systems (Baltimore, MD) from 2003 to 2020. While at NGMS, Mike was a technical staff member where he focused primarily on maritime, space and technology development Programs. He supported various Programs including Space-Based Radar, InTop TO3, SEWIP B3 (proposal), and various other NASA, DARPA, AFRL, ONR Programs. Prior to joining NG in 2003, Mike worked at several other companies including CPI (formerly Malibu Research Associates) Boeing Satellite Systems (formerly Hughes Space and Communications), Orbital Sciences Corp. (now Northrop Grumman) and TASC, Inc.

Mike earned his BSEE from the University of Maryland and his MSEE and PhD (EE) from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He has published extensively in various technical journals and conferences including IEEE Antenna, Radar and Aerospace journals/conferences and other forums such as AMS, AIAA, IEE, NASA Tech Forums, Tri-Service Radar Symposium, etc. He has 6 granted patents and ~25 patent disclosures. Mike enjoys technical mentoring and doing internal NG technical talks.
