The MIT Department of Aeronautics & Astronautics (AeroAstro) HBCU Partnership Program seeks to engage the next generation of graduate students pursuing their studies in aerospace engineering by providing access to the academics, research opportunities, and resources that the AeroAstro offers. At the national level, we aim to increase the diversity of Ph.D. students in aeronautics and astronautics.
We invite juniors and seniors from our partner institutions to explore research and education opportunities on MIT’s campus and engage with AeroAstro faculty and graduate students during a Fall Visit Campus Weekend on October 29-November 1, 2025, and a nine-week summer research program in 2026.

Eligibility

  • TThe program is open to Junior and Senior students (as of Fall 2024) from our partner institutions: Howard University, Morgan State University, and North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University.
  • Promising candidates from any discipline in engineering with a minimum GPA of 3.8 on a 4.0 scale
  • • Students from other institutions will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Institutions that would like to become a partner should contact aa-hbcupp@mit.edu

A. No, the program will arrange your travel, provide all meals, and housing accommodations.

A. No, the program with either provide a voucher or reimburse you for transportation with original receipt..

Timeline
